Readers everywhere know that there are many, many, many amazing parts of being a bookworm. I even listed some of the in my joys of bookworming post a few months ago! But sometimes there are really shitty parts of being a bookworm that no one talks about. So today, I'm going to rant about my pet peeves!
- You lend people your books AND THEY NEVER RETURN THEM. Worse, they lend your precious word-child to someone else and then that someone lends it to another someone and the vicious cycle continues and you never see that book again.
- People return you adored book children absolutely WRECKED. I’m sorry, this is not my book child that I lovingly lent to you, only on the sincere promise that NO HARM would come close to it??? BLACKLISTED FOREVER.
- Reading library books that are over 10 year old and they just...look like they should've had a nice funeral and been laid to rest many years ago. The grime is grim, not to mention other unmentionables that have slowly ground themselves into the pages over the years. >.>
- Book Depository and other book delivery outlets delivering parcels that look like they’ve walked, swam and climbed their way to your house themselves. Book Depository is the WORST. Yes, the free shipping is great but the shocking condition that so many of my books have arrived from them almost isn’t worth it. (Also how long it takes for my parcels to even turn uP but that's a rant for another day.)
- Getting a friend to read a book you LOVE and which means so much to you, only for them to come back and casually tell you they hated it.
- Watching a really, really awful book-to-movie adaptation and just slowly seeing all the good parts of the book dying a painful death on the screen.
- The second book in the series completely letting down the brilliance of the first book, thus ruining the first book with the delicacy of throwing the book straight into the sun.
- PEOPLE DOG EARING PAGES OF MY BOOKS. I DO NOT CARE WHAT YOU DO TO WITH YOUR BOOKS JUST DON'T TO THEM TO MINE. (Looking at my father on this one.)
- Trying to take nice photos of books outside and at the end of the shoot the books look like they’ve gone through a mud run.
- People assuming that when you say "I read lots of books" it means, "I've read all the classics". AM SO TIRED OF GETTING THIS QUESTION OMFG.
so that's my list! do any here resonate with you or do you have any of your own to add??
