1) Jude Jude Jude Jude Jude Jude Jude.
I FINALLY UNDERSTAND that f*cking line that's become a bloody meme for the last year!! But also I really love Jude. I'm really fond of female Slytherin characters and the cleverness and cunning that Jude was full of...I'm just slow clapping over here in my admiration and appreciation!
2) I'm so glad I didn't read this book until the second book almost came out.
Because I wouldn't have been able to cope with waiting for a year after that ENDING. I'm still in shock. IT FLOORED ME AND LEFT ME GAPING.
3) Applause please for Holly Black creating the such a fleshed out, entertaining but in the end, terrible family!
(Apart from Oak, Oak is pure.) Taryn can go get eaten by a fucking faerie for all the shits I give. She wasn't just a shit person she was boring and I low key despised her. I genuinely think that Taryn and Vivi's roles should've been swapped as that's the only thing that really let the rest of the story down. Taryn contributed about 00.1% to the story if that and I didn't want to hear about boring and annoying-as-a-puddle Taryn when half faerie, half human bisexual sass queen Vivi was around!! (However, I did think Vivi was a bit shit at times, so she doesn't get a "Sister of the Year" medal either.)
Can we also please appreciate the genius of Holly Black placing Vivi, Jude and Taryn in Madoc's care....it was absolute genius to see on the page from Madoc's killing their parents and then taking them in as his own and slowly loving them as his own and also see each girl grow up and struggle individually over separating the person who murdered their parents from the man who also acts like their father...GENIUS!!!
4) The screaming sound you can hear is me screaming about how much I ship Jude and Carden.
I spent most of the book just wanting to mush them together. This is when I get grumpy about YA romances cutting out the good stuff but I'm hoping that the second book delivers!!
(NOTE: I've been thinking about why I ship this ship for a few weeks now because I think it does have problematic aspects so keep an eye out for that blog post.)
5) So do I now want to live in a faerie court?
Yes, yes I do. But then I've always wanted to live in a faerie Court so NOTHING HAS CHANGED.
have you read the cruel prince?? if you have, do you agree that it's pain + pain + pain = more pain?!
