Welcome to A Bookish Bouquet! This is a new blog feature that I
dreamed up awhile go and now that it's Spring and flowers are blooming,
I thought it was the perfect time to introduce it on the blog!
So, what's A Bookish Bouquet
about? The title is self-explanatory! I'll be making book inspired
bouquets that are full of the blooms and fearnery with colours, tones,
textures and sometimes smell that I associate with the book and/or the
book cover. I don't know how often I'll be posting this feature but I'm
going to try and take advantage of the Spring flowers while I can!
I couldn't think of a better book to kick this feature off than The Wallflower Wager by Tessa Dare! I was inspired by the warm pinks and fresh light blues from both cover editions, as well as the general lightness and cheerfulness of the book. I wanted this bouquet to be interesting and have lots of colour while also getting those muted and textured tones in that help bring volume and make a great backdrop for the brighter flowers. I also got some lovely flowering sage and rosemary in the bunch as well which are herbs that remind me of the smell of old books, as thought that was a fun touch to add!
So I wandered around the garden in the weekend and picked this bunch
(while making sure that my sister's evil rooster didn't come and eat
me). I love flowers but I haven't practiced my arranging skills in ages
so I was a bit rusty. I played around for awhile before I got to this
bouquet and I'm not completely happy with it as I think it's a bit bulky
in places and thin in others and I was trying to make it more delicate
but I love that the colour scheme (to me) fits the book perfectly!
Let me know what you think and if there's any books you'd like me to make bouquets for - I'm thinking about making ones for The Bone Season series next!
